Northern Sydney Regional Waste Strategy

The Northern Sydney Regional Organisation of Councils (NSROC) works closely with Willoughby City, City of Ryde, Hornsby, Hunters Hill, Ku-ring-gai, Lane Cove, Mosman and North Sydney councils at a regional scale to address waste issues.

Following the release of the NSW Waste and Sustainable Material Strategy 2041, NSROC collaborated with member councils to develop the Northern Sydney Regional Waste Strategy 2022(PDF, 1MB) (The Strategy).

The Strategy outlines a 20-year vision for waste management in the Northern Sydney region, with a focus on resource recovery, environmental protection, and community well-being. It aligns with state priorities on infrastructure, carbon reduction, and waste pollution reduction.

It also aligns with Council’s Our Green City Plan 2028 resource recovery strategy to reduce the amount of waste sent to landfill and to reach net zero emissions by 2028.
