Artarmon Parklands Pavilion

Project type: Construction

Contractor name: Structus

Consultant name: SJB Architects

Delivering an exciting project for the Artarmon community and beyond.

Construction on the Artarmon Parklands Pavilion has commenced.

An adaptive reuse of the former Artarmon Bowling Clubhouse, the pavilion is designed based on the principles of community, sustainability, and recognition of the site’s heritage. The structure will be fully accessible, and will feature a range of energy efficient technologies, including solar panels and rainwater harvesting.

The pavilion will incorporate a community room, kitchen, all-weather community pavilion, and new public bathrooms. Landscaped terraces and ramps will connect the pavilion with the adjoining playground and passive recreation spaces.

Clear signage at key locations where access routes have been impacted will provide alternate routes to assist with access to the community garden and upper and lower playgrounds while the works are being undertaken.

Once finished, the pavilion will complete the parklands precinct to create a place for all to relax, exercise, and connect.

As construction progresses, we’ll keep you updated on the progress, including any important milestones and updates.

Follow our social media channels and visit our website regularly to stay informed and engaged with the development of this exciting new community space.

We can’t wait to welcome you to the Artarmon Parkland Pavilion and to see this wonderful addition to our community come to life.

Updates

 Date  Update
March 2024

Onsite activities this month include; Structural works to the existing frame, brick work and detailed excavation for passing bays within the drive and pedestrian ramps either side of Burra Road cul-de-sac.

In order to meet the DA conditions for the Artarmon Parklands Pavilion, Council was required to submit a landscape plan as part the construction certificate application. This DA condition specified that plant species including hydrangeas, camellias, azaleas and roses, used in the bowling club era be included, to reflect the past formal landscaping around the former clubhouse and bowling greens. The landscaping plan also includes the regeneration of the adjacent areas north-east, east and south-east of the pavilion. This work will be undertaken by Council’s Bushland team and will include native plantings such as Xanthorrhoea, Midyim berry, lilly pilly, Prostanthera ovalifolia, Dianella sp. that were an important food source to the indigenous people.

A copy of the landscape plan approved as part of the construction certificate, and the planting pallete, illustrating the plant species included in the plan can be found in the related documents area of this page.
