An exhibition inspired by Cathy Shugg’s lifelong fascination with France.
Inspired by a lifelong fascination with France, Cathy Shugg’s Histoires are contemporary artworks from recent art residencies in Champagne and Provence.
The exhibition features works painted en plein air and inside the artist’s studio. Shugg’s watercolours, ink sketches and collages speak of moments, scenes and encounters in France. These intricate landscapes and figurative works investigate the relationship between France’s natural and human environments and culture—now and in the past.
