The winners of the 2023 Festive flags have been chosen and are now flying high in Chatswood. If you're around the area, make sure to look up and enjoy the creativity of the 40 students from Willoughby, celebrating the festive season in December and January.

Get your pens, crayons, textas and colour pencils ready to design the flags for Willoughby's festive season!
Open to students from kindergarten through to year 6.

40 student artworks will be selected to have their flag featured throughout the Chatswood CBD during the holiday season in December and January.

Collect a template from Council’s Customer Service Centre at Ground Floor, 31 Victor Street, Chatswood or download the entry form (A3 size) below.
Entries must be sent to Council by Friday 13 October 2023.

Winning entrants will be receive a gift card and certificate at the tree lighting event in mid November, they can also view their winning flags throughout Chatswood CBD in December and January.

Terms and conditions

Eligibility

The Festive flag competition is open to students from kindergarten to year 6 who reside in or attend school within the Willoughby municipality.
Multiple flag submissions from the same entrant are acceptable.

Entry

  • The flag must be submitted on the official A3-sized template available from Willoughby City Council in portrait format.
  • You agree to the terms and conditions of entry by signing the entry form.
  • Complete the entry form and submit your flag via post, or drop it off at Willoughby City Council’s office.
  • The flag must depict a festive season theme in December and January - for example, Christmas and New Year’s Eve.

Judging and prizes

Submitted flags will be scored by a judging panel chosen by Willoughby City Council. Up to 40 winning entries will be selected to be produced as flags and winners will also receive a gift card at the tree lighting event in November

Important dates

 Each flag must comply with the following dates in order to be eligible for entry in the competition:

Date  
13 October 2023 The flag, along with a completed entry form must be received by Willoughby City Council on or before 13 October 2023.
27 October 2023 If the flag is selected as a winner Willoughby City Council intends to advise the entrant on or before this date.
13 November 2023
Flags will be installed in Chatswood CBD from Monday 13 November 2023 onwards until early January.
16 November 2023 Tree lighting event at The Concourse at 6:30pm. You will be invited to attend for an awards presentation.

 

No return of materials

Any materials sent to us will not be returned.

Grant of rights

 By entering the Festive flag competition, you acknowledge and agree that if your flag is selected for display, that Willoughby City Council has the right to screen and reproduce the design in any way or form during the festive season, and in future years.

By submitting your entry, you grant the Willoughby City Council the right to publicise, broadcast and communicate to the public your name, character, likeness or voice for any promotion or matter related to the Competition with no compensation to you for such use.
