Willoughby City Council has partnered with Chatswood RSL through its ClubGRANTS program to celebrate outstanding achievements and contributions of primary school children in our community through the ‘We Are Resilient’ awards program.

Council is calling on children aged 5-12 years who have done something exceptional to submit a photo or artwork with a story demonstrating their resilience.  The award prize pool provides a chance to win one of six prizes including digital cameras and book vouchers.

COVID-19 has had a major impact on children and families in our community and, more than ever, children have demonstrated their resilience through acts of kindness, changing lives, helping their community, promoting a good cause, volunteering and generally ‘making a difference’.

Submissions close on Friday 25 March 2022. All nominated children will be invited to an awards ceremony (COVID restrictions permitting) where Willoughby Mayor Tanya Taylor will present the awards and prizes for each age group.

Chatswood RSL’s ClubGRANTS program recognises the contributions made by children in areas that enhance the quality of life for residents of the Willoughby community.

The program has also funded a youth employment readiness program in 2022, supporting young people to prepare for the workplace. This program will offer teenagers the opportunity to explore resume writing, as well as valuable lessons on interview skills, budgeting and tax returns.

Willoughby City Council Mayor Tanya Taylor said, “On behalf of Council I would like to thank Chatswood RSL and the ClubGrants program for their contribution to our Children’s and Youth Services Teams to support the delivery of these important programs to our community.”

Willoughby City Council’s Children’s and Youth Services Teams present a wide range of programs and initiatives to support children, families and young people in the Willoughby area. For more information visit https://www.willoughby.nsw.gov.au/Community/Community-services
