Waste Collection Delays

Willoughby City Council is currently impacted by the Sydney-wide waste collection service delays following the extreme weather events over Sydney last week.

The delay is impacting red-lidded bins.

We apologise for these unavoidable delays to the garbage collection service.

Damage to the heavy rail line that is used to freight Sydney’s waste to regional landfill sites has created a backlog at our contractor’s main transfer station. As a result, the transfer station cannot operate until 6am Friday 18 March. Council is using alternative resources to help clear the backlog, however collection services will be delayed until Friday 18 March.

Residents whose bins have not been collected will be prioritised and collected as soon as possible.

Please keep your bins out for collection.

All other waste services such as recycling and green waste collections are operating normally.
