Willoughby City Council Rangers from the Safe City Unit will be paying close attention to building sites over the month of May to ensure they ‘Get the Site Right’.

The Get the Site Right campaign raises awareness of the impacts of water and sediment pollution from building sites on the aquatic environment and aims to increase compliance amongst both developers and builders.

Willoughby City Council Mayor Tanya Taylor said that the initiative demonstrates Council’s continued commitment to protecting our natural and built environment.

“Encouraging compliance by deploying a combination of education and enforcement will help to keep sustainable and environmentally friendly practices front of mind for both developers and builders,” Mayor Taylor said.

Willoughby City Council Rangers from the Safe City Unit will be paying close attention to building sites to ensure they are proceeding in accordance with Development Consents by providing and maintaining environmental protections measures.

This will culminate with a Blitz Day for all participants in the Sydney Coastal Councils Group effort on Thursday 18 May, 2023.

The Get the Site Right campaign was developed by Parramatta River Catchment Group and has since partnered with the Sydney Coastal Councils Group, Cooks River Alliance, Georges River Combined Councils Committee, NSW EPA and Department of Environment and Planning.
