Council committed to promoting Indigenous culture and heritage
Last modified on 09 March 2023
Willoughby City Council is currently developing a Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) in collaboration with Reconciliation Australia, the lead body for reconciliation in Australia.
The RAP will prepare our organisation for future reconciliation initiatives that will deliver tangible and substantive benefits for First Nations peoples.
We are excited to announce a series of workshops led by Susan Moylan Coombs, to facilitate collaboration with our community members and stakeholders in the development of the RAP. Susan has extensive experience working with First Nations communities and expertise in community consultation, empowerment and the facilitation of voice and storytelling.
The workshops are a great opportunity to share ideas on how we can acknowledge and promote Gamaragal history and culture as well as developing protocols for engaging with First Nations People who are part of our community.
We encourage and welcome involvement and collaboration of First Nations community members who live, work or are connected to our community and other stakeholders who have an interest in the development of our RAP.
The RAP development plan will have a number of phases including opportunities for feedback and ideas from our community and information sessions and events which will be promoted through our website and social channels.
