Justice of the Peace

Council provides this service for the benefit of our residents and those persons working in and visiting the Willoughby City.

JP's are available for JP's are not available for 
  • Witness a person making a Statutory Declaration
  • Witness a person making an Affidavit
  • Certify that a copy of an original document is a true and accurate copy 
  • Mortgages 
  • Company Registration 
  • Guarantees 
  • Wills 
  • Power of Attorney
  • Proof of Life 
  • Overseas documents

These documents should be taken to a Solicitor, a Notary Public or a third party that has the authority to explain and discuss the document. To find a Public Notary please visit notarylocator.com.au/NSW.

Artarmon Library

When: Thursdays 6 pm - 7 pm

Chatswood Library

  • We are open in line with current Public Health Orders, please see our Conditions of Entry before your visit.
  • Due to the popularity of this service, you may need to queue to see a JP, please allow enough time for your visit.
  • Photocopying and printing is available, or use the library’s web printing service to send your documents to print.
  • The library is a cashless facility, only card or Eftpos payments are accepted. 

When: Mondays 12:30pm - 2pm, Wednesdays 10 am - 12 pm, Saturdays 10 am - 12 pm

Northbridge Library

Please note, there are no photocopying or printing services currently available at Northbridge Library. Please ensure you bring the required copies with you.

When: Tuesday mornings 10 am - 12 pm

West Chatswood Library

When: Tuesdays 3:30 pm - 4:30 pm

Please note: The Code of Conduct and the Attorney General's Office prohibits the Justice of the Peace from receiving gifts or payments for services. We thank you for your consideration.

Requests for witnessing Proof of Life forms or any overseas documents

NSW law does not authorise NSW JPs to witness signatures on overseas documents or to perform other tasks under overseas laws, or those required by an organisation or agency from overseas. A Public Notary is able to witness signatures on overseas documents.
