'Festive Blessings' Chinese calligraphy workshop

To celebrate the upcoming Lunar New Year, the Australian Oriental Calligraphy Society and the Chinese Calligraphy Society of China, will jointly present 'Festive Blessings' (萬福迎春) calligraphy workshop for the community.

The workshop will feature experienced calligraphers writing and gifting the traditional character '福' (blessing) and Lunar New Year couplets on site. It will offer community members the opportunity to learn basic calligraphy techniques, engage directly with calligraphers, and experience the art and elegance of traditional Chinese calligraphy.

Through both live demonstrations and hands-on participation, the event aims to share wishes of good fortune, wellbeing and prosperity, while fostering greater cultural understanding and community connection.

Taking place two days prior to Australia Day (26 January), this event highlights cultural exchange and inclusiveness, celebrating shared values of harmony, goodwill and mutual respect.

This free event is open to people of all ages.
