Sportsgrounds

Council maintains sportsgrounds for public use. Some of these facilities are shared with local state schools.

Council provides the necessary grounds to play a wide range of sports, including; cricket, rugby union, rugby league, Aussie rules, soccer, touch football, netball, basketball, tennis, hockey, baseball, frisbee, and athletic sports.

Sporting organisations and clubs use Council grounds for training and competition. They are able to be hired either on a casual or seasonal basis.

To keep surfaces in a good and safe condition, the number of hours a week that grounds can be hired is restricted. Grounds may also be closed during or after wet weather. To find out whether a sportsground is open or closed after rain, check the Ground Closures page or phone the Wet Weather Line on 9777 7631.

Sporting organisations and clubs have priority for the safe use of Council grounds once they have been booked for training and/or competition. Casual visitors must avoid contact with teams and players using the grounds for safety reasons.
