Citizenship Ceremonies

With restrictions in NSW lifting, Willoughby City Council has returned face to face ceremonies. The most recent ceremony was held in The Concourse Civic Pavilion on Thursday 28 October 2021 where Mayor Gail Giles-Gidney presided over 350 residents.

The next Citizenship Ceremony is scheduled for 26 January 2022.  Subsequent dates will be posted in time.

The Department of Home Affairs supplies Council with a list of conferees for each ceremony. If you are on this list you will receive an email invitation from the Department of Home Affairs at least 2 weeks before your ceremony date.

If you apply for citizenship for a child under 16 years of age, you need to attend the ceremony and receive their Citizenship Certificate on their behalf.
Children are not required to attend, but of course are welcome to do so.

When attending a citizenship ceremony we recommend to dress in smart casual attire or traditional cultural clothing to reflect this significant occasion.
