Lion Dance Kids
As a part of the Chatswood Year of the Ox Festival, Willoughby City Council will be hosting a series of Lion Dance workshops for Kids between the age of 5 - 12. Providing an opportunity to encounter the Lions upfront.
Lion Dance Kids uses storytelling to introduce the concepts of courage, teamwork, and physical activity. Narrating a hero’s journey explaining the origins of the Chinese celebration of New Year, and Lion Dancing. It's aimed to give insight into the Chinese culture and introduce the concepts of Kung Fu to kids, defined as the mastery of skill over long periods of time. Developing resilience, grit, and responsibility in children.
This experience is to provide an upfront encounter with the costumes and instruments. To spark interest in pursuing the art form with greater detail.
Come join our class, be brave and be courageous.
Workshop to be held in the Dance rehearsal studio at The Concourse, due to COVID safety restrictions, no parents are allowed to be in the workshop. Kids will be collected at the Stage Door.
