From Urban to Floral Rocks

Exhibition Dates: 30 November to 11 December 2022

An exhibition of paintings by Fangmin Wu.

In this exhibition, Fangmin Wu’s paintings reflect the feeling of returning to nature following our urban confinement during two long years of lockdowns and isolation.

In the Urban series, he wants to impart that feeling of a crowded city atmosphere by showing famous landmarks and familiar neighbourhoods. The Rock Flower series acts as a contrast, exploring what it means to return to nature. Wu paints trees, sea reefs and rock moss as a timeless representation of our natural environment.

He hopes that scenes from familiar neighbourhoods will remind visitors of the same streets that we were confined to during lockdown. Conversely, the natural landscapes are intended to open up visitors’ minds to nature and our gigantic world beyond the home and local suburbs.
