Willoughby City is a thriving hub for businesses large and small. As we look ahead, Council is striving to further develop the economy of the area. Join John Elliott, our Economic Development Manager, for a fascinating deep dive into how Council is supporting local businesses, leading economic recovery and ensuring Willoughby’s economy flourishes now and in the future.

In this interactive webinar you’ll discover what economic development is, why it is important and what it means for Willoughby. John will unpack how Council works to create jobs and wealth by bringing the business community together, helping existing businesses expand and attracting new businesses, providing opportunities for trading, and attracting customers to help that growth.

He will provide an insight on the steps Council has taken to support recovery post COVID and how we’re working to encourage the community to ‘support local’.

John Elliott

John Elliott has had 30 years’ experience working in Economic Development roles in the UK, Queensland and now Sydney. He has been with Council for 7 months. His key achievements have been attracting international business to an area, and helping them expand, diversifying regional economies, building and managing a number of co-working spaces, and developing a range of strategies from economic development, tourism, arts and community plans. John is inspired by showing people a future by creating a roadmap of where we want to be and the ways we can get there.
