Fittingly the event is held at Henry Lawson's cave in Naremburn where reportedly Henry used to sleep off the excesses after a day of spouting poetry in exchange for beers at the nearby Willoughby and Crows Nest Hotels.
This year is the 26th anniversary of the poetry reading at the cave which started from humble beginnings but has grown to become hugely popular.
The evening will have readers Don Swonnell, Peter Carmody and Diana Bates bringing to life a variety of poems interspersed with music and bush ballads performed by Greg Dimmock, Alex Cronin and Jill Brown.
To top it all off, Willoughby Council will serve tea and damper for supper. You are encouraged to bring your own cushion to sit on and a mug if you wish. What better way to spend a balmy summer evening in the big smoke with memories from the bush?
