This exhibition explores the pioneer families who shaped todays thriving city.  These early settlers included a significant ethnic diversity, including Chinese market gardeners who supplied vegetables and fish to their neighbours and Sydney markets.  There were also Japanese and Russian storekeepers.

The 20th century wars brought new wave immigrants, notably from war-torn European countries, while more recently the city has experienced a significant influx of migrants from Asia.  Our exhibition explores these changes.
