Hear Dr Tomasz Bednarz speak about the use of visual analytics in the Era of Big Data, with applications that are assisting scientists and decision makers with their understanding of major conservation and social ecology problems. He will share some 360o images of his work assisting with conservation problems ranging from jaguars in the jungle through to the Great Barrier Reef.

Tomasz will then be joined by Dr Angel R. Lopez-Sanchez from the Australian Astronomical Observatory and Dr Mark Ballico from the National Measurement Institute Australia for a lively panel discussion.

Dr Tomasz Bednarz is A/Professor and Director of Visualisation at the Expanded Perception and Interaction Centre (EPICentre) UNSW and Team Leader at CSIRO's Data61 (Big Data Visualisation and Analytics Team).

Dr Angel R. Lopez-Sanchez is Astronomy Research Fellow & Science Communicator at Australian Astronomical Observatory

Dr Mark Ballico is Section Manager, Mechanical, Thermal and Optical Standards, National Measurement Institute Australia.
