Willoughby’s Wildlife Storybook

Each year, year 5 children from our local primary schools study a native species then bring that animal to life on the page. Readers of all ages learn from the work of young artists and writers. In preparation for the storybook, council staff communicate the key external features, unique behaviours and habitats of the species chosen for each school. Students then study and observe the animal, learning about the many challenges the animal may face in an urbanised environment.

This project aims to foster a sense of ownership in the preservation of nature from within our school communities.
