Mature members of the community are invited to “reconnect” during Willoughby Seniors Festival, 18 March – 14 April.

This year’s Festival theme, Reconnect, forms part of the NSW Seniors Festival with a focus on activities that help connect us, whether that be face-to-face, online or both. The Festival is sponsored by Willoughby City Council and supported by local community organisations and businesses.

More than 30 exciting Covid-safe events will be held for free or at specially-discounted rates. Events range from art to fitness, online learning, road safety, cooking, walks and many other social and recreational activities.

Willoughby Mayor Tanya Taylor said “The popular Seniors Gala Concert at the Zenith Theatre, ‘Healthy Ageing’ webinar by eminent geriatrician Professor Susan Kurrle, and the Sydney Harbour Cruise are expected to be highpoints of the festival”.

“We’ve all had to distance ourselves socially and physically the past year. Now more than ever we need to find new ways to connect. With eased Covid restrictions, this festival provides a timely opportunity to rekindle social connections, discover an enjoyable pastime or learn a new skill.”

“The huge range of activities and events is a testament to our ‘City of Diversity’ and the active involvement of many wonderful community groups and organisations that run events,” Mayor Taylor said.

Bookings for some activities and events are essential. The 2022 Willoughby Seniors Festival program is available online or collect a copy from Council’s Libraries, Council reception at 31 Victor Street, Chatswood, Dougherty Community Centre and other locations across the City.
