The Council has been distressed to see fish kills and pollution in Flat Rock Creek.
This is a much-loved local waterway, which plays an important environment and recreational role in our community.
We have been informed that the Environment Protection Authority (EPA) is currently investigating this incident
We have also been informed that EPA officers are onsite, undertaking investigations and collecting samples and that the pollution incident may be linked to firefighting efforts currently being undertaken at a nearby waste facility.
We are encouraging everyone to avoid touching any dead fish, and staying away from the water, until further notice.
To put this into effect, the Council today erected warning signs in the lower section of the Flat Rock Creek Gully.
