At the April 2025 Council Meeting, Mayor Tanya Taylor shared updates on major projects and initiatives across Willoughby.
Councillors voted to increase budget allocation for the Willoughby Leisure Centre project following a required “change in project scope”, in response to project challenges. Practical completion is currently forecast for late 2025 and an official opening in early 2026. Council has also committed to developing a new Gore Hill Indoor Sports Centre and is starting a broader Open Space Master Plan for the area. Community members are invited to provide feedback on Council’s 2025–2029 Delivery Program, 2025/26 Operational Plan, and updated Resourcing Strategy, all now on public exhibition.
Other key updates include the adoption of new Net Zero emissions targets, planning for new food organics collection services, a trial off-leash dog area in Chatswood West, and new efforts to strengthen wildlife corridors.
