12pm, Wednesday 16 June I The Concourse Concert Hall

Internationally-acclaimed flutist, Jane Rutter, presents the third Live at Lunch concert on 16 June – with a program that celebrates music from all corners of the globe, Bach, Bolero and a Beautiful World.

Mention the word flute to any Australian, and the name Jane Rutter immediately springs to mind. Jane is a classical music trailblazer known for her onstage warmth, she brilliantly conveys passion, sparkling technique and elegance of expression through her beautiful flute playing.

Hosted by Willoughby City Council, 2021 sees the popular lunch-time series return with seven fabulous concerts across the year.

Third Culture’s music is a cultural treasure vase, a synthesis of musical style, blending classical chamber music, original Australian compositions, and new settings of traditional music from all corners of the globe.

“Using the transformative powers of music to unify and inspire, the group joyfully merges classical, jazz, and world folk music,” Jane said.

Indian Bollywood meets classical chamber music, sensuous rhythmic Arabic dances, Chinese ‘redgrass’ (think bluegrass with an Eastern flavour), plus new takes on Ravel’s Bolero, Bach and Vivaldi. Audiences will delight in this unique musical around-the-world-journey.

With a combination of meditative and rhythmic music, the concert features works for classical and world flutes, guitar, Chinese banjo (sanxian), cello, double bass, tabla and vibraphone.

“I love the blend of talent we have for our June concert. There is nothing quite like live music from around the world to bring joy to and to unify the community,” Jane said.

“I love to make my audiences feel included. Live at Lunch is all about social inclusion as well as fine music. Lunching with the audience after the show is just delightful.”

Audience members can join Jane and the performers for lunch after the concert.
