JANE RUTTER- flute AMELIA FARRUGIA- Soprano VIVIAN CHOI-Piano

WHEN Tuesday 26 October, 12 midday

Internationally acclaimed flutist, French Knight Jane Rutter, is Artistic Director of the highly successful series Live at Lunch. Jane is joined by Australian Opera star soprano, Amelia Farrugia and international concert pianist Vivian Choi, who has recently returned to Australia from success in the USA.

Mention the word flute to any Australian, and the name Jane Rutter immediately springs to mind. A classical music trailblazer, known for her onstage warmth. Jane brilliantly conveys passion, sparkling technique and elegance of expression through her beautiful French-style flute playing.

The multi-ARIA nominee studied in France for several years. She has appeared on the same bill as Pavarotti, Carreras and Michael Crawford and as a soloist around the world. Her sublime flute playing has led to more than 24 best-selling albums.

Amelia Farrugia began her career in musicals, with starring roles in The Buddy Holly Story, The Phantom of the Opera and West Side Story. A Green Room Award winner, Amelia has starred with Opera Australia since 1994. She recorded her debut solo with BBC Symphony Orchestra, including performances with The Metropolitan Opera in New York, La Boheme for Opera Hong Kong and the Beijing Arts Festival.

“Beautiful Paris is my other hometown, and France is my other country,” said Jane. “This concert was intended for Bastille Day (14 July) 2021. Since then there has been not just a 100-day lock down but also considerable fracas and mal à l'aise between Australia and France. The two nations have such a rich history of camaraderie and honour, that I’m sure we all long for a détente. Perhaps So French So Fabuleux!”

After the concert, audience members can join the performers for a delicious two-course Vietnamese lunch at Tomi’s Kitchen. The Concourse’s newest restaurant serves modern Vietnamese cuisine with a twist on traditional cooking.
