Council seeks expressions of interest as panel representatives

Willoughby Local Planning Panel

Willoughby Council is seeking expressions of interest from members of the community to represent Council on the Willoughby Local Planning Panel (WLPP).

The role of the WLPP is to determine planning applications for local development and provide advice on rezoning applications. Each panel meeting consists of three independent experts and a community representative. A number of experts and community representatives are appointed and rotated through meetings. The appointment of community representatives will be up to a period of 3 years commencing July 2021.

Community representatives will contribute constructively to panel discussions bringing community knowledge and insight into deliberations. An understanding of planning and related disciplines would be helpful although the community representative is not required to be an expert in planning or related areas. The role will require attendance at regular panel and public meetings and briefings. Preparation prior to meetings will be required including report reading and site inspections.

The Community representative positions on WLPP will be paid in accordance with rates set by the NSW Government.

Property developers, real estate agents and current Councillors are not eligible to apply.

Sydney North Planning Panel

Willoughby Council is seeking expressions of interest from members of the community to represent Council on the Sydney North Planning Panel (SNPP).

The role of the SNPP is to determine regionally significant development applications, certain other DAs and S4.55(2) and S4.56 modification applications, act as the Planning Proposal Authority (PPA) when directed, undertake rezoning reviews, provide advice on other planning and development matters when requested, and determine site compatibility certificates under the State Environmental Planning Policy (SEPP) . The appointment of community representatives will be up to a period of 3 years commencing July 2021.

It will be an advantage if you have expertise in one or more area in planning, architecture, heritage, the environment, urban design, land economics, traffic and transport law, engineering or tourism. The role will require attendance at regular panel and public meetings and briefings. Preparation prior to meetings will be required including report reading and site inspections.

Property developers and real estate agents are not eligible to apply.
