Chatswood Nights light up with a feast for the senses

Published on 19 May 2021

As the nights get longer, Chatswood comes to life from 21 May to 10 July with Chatswood Nights – dazzling projections, installations, performances and food in the CBD.

For seven weeks, The Concourse precinct comes to life with an exciting program of mesmerising light art. Be immersed in changing shapes, colours and patterns as the iconic rooftop becomes a dynamic canvas for a series of projections. Come face to face with cheeky Australian animals, strange and beautiful flowers and quirky creatures as light sculptures spring up around the precinct. Enjoy al fresco performances each Friday afternoon in the heart of Chatswood.

21 May – 12 June

The Concourse lights up with projections commissioned by internationally renowned 3D projection mappers Limelight. Established artists from Sydney, Melbourne, France, Ukraine and the USA took part in the Limelight Academy masterclass to create a visual and auditory feast exploring themes of the subconscious and relationships.

Get up close and personal with one of the oldest life forms on earth – the Water Bear - a light art installation standing larger than life and delight in the Hidden Garden – inflatable flowers bringing nature to the urban landscape.

18 June to 10 July

A menagerie of native animals descend on The Concourse as light art work Marzoopials by Sydney-based artist Zara Pasfield lights up each night. Colourful koalas, cheeky cockatoos, and curious kangaroos serve as a reminder to Australians to protect our unique wildlife and restore our precious habitats.

If you’re hankering for foreign shores, step inside the interactive Tele-port, a magical phone booth to take you on an imaginary journey to your dream location.

Friday evenings

Each Friday afternoon, unwind to the sounds of live music on the lawn at The Concourse as members of the renowned Willoughby Symphony Orchestra present a variety of musical styles.
