Following the announcement of the NSW Government’s roadmap out of lockdown, we’re looking forward to welcoming our community back to a range of our venues from 11 October.

In order for Willoughby City Council to reopen to the public, we are required to follow mandates by NSW Health and the NSW Government. To visit our Council venues you are required to:

  • be doubly vaccinated and able to provide relevant documentation upon request (over 16s)
  • wear a mask (over 12s)
  • check into the venue
  • practice social distancing

We have COVIDSafe plans in place and will be undertaking regular cleaning of our facilities. We’ll be adhering to the 4 metre rule, so there will be some caps in capacities, and in many settings signage and other markings will encourage social distancing.

All our staff are fully vaccinated. Please be patient with our staff while we open our services and venues in line with public health orders.

Look out for more information over the coming weeks. Check our website and follow us on social media.

From 11 October the following venues will be open

Chatswood Library

We’re pleased to resume our library service on Mondays to Fridays from 10am – 6pm at Chatswood Library.

To give you more time, we’re extending loans until a week after reopening. You’ll be able to pick up your reservations or cancel them at no extra charge.

Our public PCs will be available as will the study tables and student study room (priority will be given to HSC students).

Our events and activities will remain online for now and room bookings will not be available.

Willoughby Leisure Centre

It’s time to get active at Willoughby Leisure Centre. From 11 October, we’re excited to welcome you back to the health club and group fitness classes from 6.15am - 8pm Mondays to Fridays and 7am - 2pm on weekends.

Please book your group fitness classes prior to attending the centre as no bookings will be taken at the front desk and arrive 5 – 10 minutes before your class. A maximum of 20 people can attend indoor classes and masks must be worn.

Bookings are not required for the Health Club, however a maximum of 40 people can attend at one time. If the capacity is reached you may be asked to return at another time.

We know you’re keen to get back in the water, however our pool will open on 18 October. This will give us time to prepare the pool and roster staff in order to welcome swimmers again. We’ll have more information soon.

Our change rooms will be open for toilets and changing only. We ask that you shower at home.

At this stage the crèche and cafe remain closed.

The spa and sauna are permanently closed.

We’ll reactivate your membership on request, however if you prefer to wait before returning we won’t apply suspension fees.

Tyneside Tennis

From 11 October the centre will be open for social play but there will be no organised competitions as yet.

Doubles and group coaching of up to 30 players can resume for fully vaccinated players (under 12s not included in numbers). If you’re not vaccinated you can participate in singles tennis or play with your household. Regular hirers are required to provide evidence of compliance with public health orders. The external amenities and public toilets will be open but the pavilion will remain closed.
