Queen’s Birthday 2020 Willoughby City Honours Recipients

Seven Willoughby City community members have been named in this year’s Queens Birthday Honours List announced by The Govenor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC on Monday.

Nominated by the community, The Order of Australia is the pre-eminent way to recognise the achievements and service of exceptional Australians.

Five residents received The Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) for their service worthy of particular recognition:

  • Mr Andrew Robert Pierce (Chatswood), for service to the community, and to accountancy.
  • Emeritus Professor Robert Charles Baxter (Naremburn), for significant service to medical research, to endocrinology, and to tertiary education.
  • Mr Malcom Stuart Boyd (Northbridge), for significant service to civil engineering, to tertiary education, and as a role model.
  • Dr Wendy Faye Michaels (Northbridge), for service to women, and to the dramatic arts.
  • Dr Jennider Jill Gordon (Roseville), for significant service to psychological medicine, and to professional medical bodies.

Former Willoughby resident Mrs Toni Frances Fields (Crows Nest) and long serving local community club President was awarded an OAM for service to netball and to the community.s

Ms Diane Jennifer Grady AM (Northbridge) was appointed an Officer of the Order of Australia (AO) for her distinguished service to the community through business and advisory roles, to the advancement of women and girls, and to charitable initiatives.

Willoughby City Council Mayor, Cr. Gail Giles-Gidney said she was thrilled that these outstanding community members were being recognised on a national level. “Congratulations to our residents and community memberss who were honoured. We thank you for your service to our community and are grateful that you call Willoughby home”.
