Community Engagement
Under new requirements of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 (EP&A Act), Council developed and adopted the Willoughby Community Participation Plan in November 2019. The plan informs the community about how and when they can participate in council planning functions.
In 2018, Willoughby City Council developed a Community Engagement Strategy(PDF, 2MB) to assist future planning activities and the development of Our Future Willoughby 2028(PDF, 4MB) . The strategy supports local democratic processes by encouraging community interest in civic issues, promoting social justice and keeping people well informed of local and regional issues.
The Willoughby Community Participation Plan now forms part of Council’s Community Engagement Framework which was endorsed in October 2016 and consists of
The Community Engagement Policy outlines the objectives, principles and scope of the Framework. Council will be reviewing this Framework in the coming months.
