Community, Culture & Leisure
Community, Culture & Leisure is responsible for enhancing community life through aged and disability services at the Dougherty Centre, Youth Centre, Child Care and Family Day Care, Volunteering and management of a range of community facilities across the LGA. The directorate is also responsible for community development through delivery of Multicultural services, seven Libraries, Willoughby Leisure Centre, visual arts programs including management of Art Space on The Concourse and Incinerator Art Space and development of open space for sport and recreation. The Directorate manages The Concourse Precinct, conducts Council’s community engagement and organises major events such as Emerge and Vivid Sydney at Chatswood.
Customer and Corporate
Customer and Corporate supports Councillors and staff, provides information to external customers, and ensures sound governance structures are in place. The department includes People and Culture, Governance and Customer Service for these functions. The Directorate also manages efficient operations through Information Technology, information management, procurement, GIS, rates and financial services. Customer and Corporate is responsible for Council’s Long Term Financial Plan ensuring financial sustainability for Council and its community.
Planning and Infrastructure
Planning and Infrastructure encompasses a range of services to provide the best outcomes for our built and natural environment. The directorate has a strong focus on environmental management and education to ensure the natural environment if preserved and improved for future generations. Planning and Infrastructure is responsible for development assessments, works services, waste recovery, regulatory services and management of Council’s assets. Planning for the future of the City, the directorate also develops the strategic framework for urban design and development, transport and land use.

The Local Government Act 1993 requires Councils to appoint a Public Officer to assist the community to access information, deal with community requests, receive submissions and accept service of documents and other activities as defined by section 343 of the Local Government Act.
