Home Care Volunteering
Supported by Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP) and NSW Community Care Supports Program (CCSP)
Lower North Shore Community Volunteers provides promotion, recruitment and referral services of community volunteers to CHSP services across Lane Cove, Mosman, North Sydney and Willoughby council areas.
CHSP Service volunteer roles operate within the community, and provide a comprehensive range of support services for frail aged and people with a disability, as well as their carers. Some of these services would not be able to exist without the invaluable support of community volunteers. We require community volunteers from all cultural backgrounds to provide this support and make a positive difference in people's lives.
Reasons to volunteer
Volunteering is a great two-way system. It can provide just as much benefit to the receiver as it does to the giver. We hear many stories from our volunteers expressing how much they enjoy volunteering. And for the people receiving the assistance, the help of a volunteer can make it possible for them to live in their own homes with comfort and dignity.
Apart from the many benefits to mental and physical health, volunteering is great for expanding your social network and your confidence. Volunteering can also a create a pathway to employment, and it has the benefit of being flexible. Volunteering may be something for you or for someone you know.
In a fast paced and busy society, it is great to occasionally slow down the pace and assist someone less able who, with your support, can continue to live independently. It is this support for fellow residents that builds strong and caring communities.

You will also need to consent to a Criminal History Record Check. The aim of this screening is to ensure the safety of our residents when in the care and trust of our service providers. It does not necessarily disqualify a person if there is a record of a minor offence.
LNS Community Volunteers will acknowledge and discuss your volunteer application over the phone or will make a time to meet with you to discuss volunteering in more detail.
Job descriptions, guidelines and training/information sessions are provided for all volunteer positions.
