Older Adults

Council support older adults with services that aim to:

  • provide information, advocacy and referral services
  • develop and promote a comprehensive range of high quality community services/facilities through the development and implementation of relevant Social Plans which meet the needs of older people and people with disability. This includes a high level of consultation, co-ordination and a planned approach to community development.
  • involve residents in the development of services and projects to meet their needs.
  • promote equitable access to community services and facilities for disadvantaged groups and communities.
  • inform Council, community groups and government departments of changing needs and policies.

Services in your Home and Social Activities

Council provides the following Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP) services to help people remain healthy, independent and live more comfortably in their home through our pdf format At Home with Willoughby:

  • Meals on Wheels, for nutritious meals delivered to your door and social lunches held at the Dougherty Community Centre – 9777 7830
  • Out and about is a ride share service to help you stay socially active.
  • Linen service – provides clean bed and bathroom linen to your home 9777 7828
  • Shopping bus and a home delivery shopping service,
  • Bus outings to exciting and interesting destinations and  several weekly social groups
  • Information and referral service and assistance with odd jobs - 9777 7824

My Aged Care

Access to all Government supported assistance for older people, including residential aged care, is available through the My Aged Care gateway at www.myagedcare.gov.au or by calling 1800 200 422.

Library Home Delivery Service

Council also provides Home Delivery and Self Select Library Services to assist people who require assistance to access a range of products from our libraries.

Wellness, Education, Spiritual & Social Activities

Willoughby Seniors Advisory Committee

The Willoughby Seniors Advisory Committee meets four times a year at the Dougherty Community Centre, 7 Victor Street, Chatswood.
