Disability Access and Inclusion

Willoughby is a City of Diversity, a place where we are proud to welcome all people regardless of their religious and spiritual practices, languages and abilities.

As part of this, Council has a longstanding commitment to improving the lives of people with disability, and does so through our Disability Action Plans, our Access Advisory Committee and through services and events provided for all people.

Willoughby Disability Inclusion Action Plan 2017-2021

Council adopted the Willoughby Disability Inclusion Action Plan 2017-2021 in May 2017. The plan was prepared in accordance with the NSW Disability Inclusion Act 2014 and supports the NSW Disability Inclusion Plan.

The plan was prepared in consultation with the community, service providers and Council officers and outlines guiding principles, goals and actions to assist Council to make Willoughby an inclusive and accessible city for everyone.

The actions have been identified under four goal areas:

  • Liveable communities;
  • Employment;
  • Systems and processes; and
  • Attitudes and behaviours

Access Advisory Committee

Access Advisory Committee

This Committee meets on the second Wednesday of each month from February to November at the Dougherty Community Centre, 7 Victor St Chatswood. The aim of the Committee is to increase inclusion and access across the Willoughby Local Government Area.

This is a voluntary committee and requires members with an interest in access and inclusion for people with disability, including people living with a disability, carers, support people, service providers and people working in professions that are related to inclusive practices.

The National Disability Insurance Scheme
