2019 Exhibition CalendarWater and Wildlife AND Observations – from the Natural History Illustrator
Opening Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 5pm
Two concurrent exhibitions showcasing our native wildlife.
Water and Wildlife is an exhibition of digital photographs and environmental displays by Meredith Foley and the Bushland staff from Council’s Environment Unit, telling the story of the connections between water and our local wildlife.
Observations – from the Natural History Illustrator is an exhibition of native wildlife, by students and staff from Newcastle University’s Natural History Illustration Club. To observe the natural world with its sense of wonder and beauty and render it in meticulous detail is the unique ability of the natural history illustrator. As natural history illustrators we create our art from an understanding of the complexities which lead to this beauty. Our wonder becomes curiosity for the unseen, through countless hours of field research, study of anatomical function and form, collaboration with scientists, and understanding gained through observation and reflection. Curious about the creatures around us, ‘Observations’ brings to life creatures as diverse as Barking Owls, Squirrel Gliders, and Ocean Sunfish.
21 March, 10am – 12.30pm
This is a chance to see Observations, Sydney Printmakers 2019 and Saturated Terrain, as a part of a walking tour group through Chatswood and Willoughby.
