Children's Week is a national program recognising the talents, skills, achievements and rights of children and young people. Children's Week highlights the terrific work that educational services and community groups conduct in Australia. Willoughby City Council supports Children’s Week, ensuring that every child experiences the chance to succeed in learning and in life.
The 2017 theme is based on the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child: Article 29 – “Education should develop each child’s personality and talents to the full. It should encourage children to respect their parents, their cultures and other cultures.”
Children's Week celebrates the right of children to enjoy childhood. It is also a time for children to demonstrate their talents, skills and abilities. Thousands of children and their families around the country are involved in activities and events during "The Week," through participation at schools, playgroups, childcare, kindergartens, cultural groups, libraries, departments and community groups.
Willoughby City Council Children’s Services participate in Children’s Week each year. This year the children have been working hard on artworks portraying what their childcare service means to them.
