Over 60s Road Safety
In the Willoughby City Council area, 18% of all traffic casualties are people aged 60 and over. This figure is high considering seniors make up only 16% of the population in Willoughby. Because of this, Council recognises that road safety projects focussing on seniors are very important.
Seniors Road Safety Calendar
Each year Willoughby City Council joins with other North Shore and Northern Beaches councils to produce the Seniors Road Safety Calendar. The calendar promotes road safety for seniors and will be full of local photos, useful tips and information.
A road safety message is displayed on each month of the calendar, along with a number of valuable hints that can help reduce risks. Topics include issues for drivers, pedestrians and mobility scooter users.
There is also a list of useful phone numbers such as police, medical, hospital, home nursing and community aid.
The calendar is available through local senior groups and centres, retirement villages and council facilities across the northern Sydney region.
