Have a laugh and meet new people at Willoughby Seniors Festival
Willoughby seniors are invited to take part in the annual Seniors Festival, featuring more than 30 free or specially discounted events and activities.
Sponsored by Willoughby City Council and supported by community organisations and businesses, the 2019 program runs during the NSW Seniors Festival in February and includes free exercise sessions, workshops, art exhibitions, performances, talks, open days and more.
A highlight of the program is the annual Seniors Celebrations Variety Concert on February 19 on The Concourse, Chatswood. The concert will include live music and entertainment by a variety of performers including the celebrated Royal Australian Navy Band, followed by a delicious afternoon tea.
A native plant showcase on February 22 called Wild Friday will discuss bush spice and wildflowers for backyards and features a cooking demonstration. Hosted by landscape architect and horticulturalist Linda Ross, it’s sure to be an interesting day.
The Sydney Harbour Cruise on February 27 with seafood buffet lunch for just $50 is one to delight with the chance to enjoy sightseeing and commentary.
“The Willoughby Seniors Festival program demonstrates our diverse community and the active involvement of the many wonderful community groups and organisations we have in Willoughby,” Mayor Gail Giles-Gidney said.
“The Festival could not happen without the help and support of all those involved – to our community, residents, community groups, government services – thank you for your contribution and participation,” she said.
