Vivid Music - Lisa Fischer & the Grand Baton

Lisa Fischer & the Grand Baton, Tuesday 4 June

Bringing a dose of New York jazz, rock, gospel and pop to Vivid Music is legendary singer Lisa Fischer and her band, Grand Baton. With her futuristic twist on melodies and transcendent vocals, Lisa embodies the true essence of Vivid Music.

Lisa won her first Grammy for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance for her 1991 hit How Can I Ease the Pain. A solo tour seemed inevitable, but Lisa was constantly on the road, backing either her beloved mentor Luther Vandross or The Rolling Stones. Lisa is a legend in the music industry; everybody loves her sound. Now Lisa has taken centre stage with her band Grand Baton to produce a powerful, elevating and intoxicating show for local audiences.

Vivid Music - Vince Jones

Vince Jones: A Personal Selection, A Retrospective, Saturday 8 June

Since emerging in the jazz clubs of Melbourne in the late 70s and early 80s, Vince Jones has set the benchmark for Australian contemporary jazz vocalists with his live performances hailed as “an intoxicating tour de force.”

In 2016 Vince won the Aria Award for Best Jazz Album. A national treasure with an international career and deep love of music, his genre defies categorisation. He is a remarkable interpreter of songs with a vocal style that resists technique in favour of creative feeling and mood, preferring organic and emotional reactions to his work.

After the stunning sold-out success of Van Morrison’s Masterpieces in 2018, Vince returns for Vivid Music to showcase his most recent album. His concert will revisit well-loved songs from his past career and give a glimpse into his future.

Vivid Music - Pastoral

Pastoral, Willoughby Symphony Orchestra, Saturday 1 – Sunday 2 June

The future of inventive and captivating classical music is right here on Sydney’s North Shore, with Willoughby Symphony Orchestra performing the world premier piano concerto from emerging composer Kate Moore. During the concert, the Young Composer of the Year will be announced and their work also premiered on stage. It’s a double treat for audiences wanting to be the first to taste new classical music.
