Discover your local wildlife at the Fauna Fair

Fauna Fair 2019

Currey Park, Victor Street, Chatswood
FREE event

Wildlife is everywhere, from birds and bugs in your backyard to the wallabies and owls in local bushland. Willoughby City Council presents a celebration of local wildlife, bushland and community at the ever popular Fauna Fair when it returns on 31 March.

A highlight on the North Shore’s events calendar, this year’s Fauna Fair has a special focus on water and wildlife. Discover how you can help your local wildlife through removing plastics from the environment and what you can do in your own back yard including how to create water habitats.  The full program includes:

  • Live animal shows – enjoy thrilling wildlife shows featuring free flight birds, Australian mammals, reptiles, frogs and oceans creatures

  • Expert talks by wildlife and environmental specialists – hear talks from experts including Dr Scott Wilson on collecting data on microplastics in marine waters, Madeline Bell from Take 3 for the Sea and Adam Wood on the Frog ID program at the Australia Museum

  • Over 20 information stalls – find out more about Take 3 for the Sea, living plastic free, citizen sciences, habitat creation, local wildlife, backyard inspects, Willoughby’s bush and local environmental community

  • A great range of kids’ activities – have fun with great wildlife craft, marine creature education with Rangers on the Run, a pet drawing competition and much more

  • Food stalls – tea, coffee, breakfast, hot food and cakes

“The Fauna Fair is a fun day out for everyone! It’s a great way to learn about all the native wildlife in our area - from our homes to the harbor – and to find out how we can improve the environment to ensure the long term survival of our remarkable native animals,” said Willoughby Mayor, Gail Giles-Gidney.

The event will be run single-use plastic free so bring your own reusable bottle, coffee cup and shopping bag. The event is FREE. For more information visit
