REMEMBRANCE – 16 & 17 June

In the 100th anniversary year of the end of WWI, the Willoughby Symphony present an emotionally charged concert featuring Samuel Barber’s Adagio for Strings and Composer-in-Residence Nigel Westlake’s powerful opus, The Glass Soldier.

 FREEDOM – 28 & 29 July

Dr Nicholas Milton AM leads the orchestra across the wild landscapes of Scotland in Mendelssohn’s haunting tribute, a resplendent piece with heavenly melodic turns and surprising harmonies that are awakened by an orchestration that is endlessly varied and striking.

 PASSION – 15 & 16 September

Brilliant pianist David Fung and Dr Nicholas Milton AM reunite on stage for Shostakovich’s second piano concerto, followed by a magical portrayal of Composer-in-Residence, Nigel Westlake’s evocative and imaginatively conceived orchestral poem, Shimmering Blue.

DISCOVERY – 27 & 28 October

Dr Nicholas Milton AM leads the 2018 Season Finale with Composer-in-Residence Nigel Westlake’s Cudmirrah Fanfare, Dvořák’s New World Symphony and a special guest appearance by Dimity Hall and Julian Smiles for Brahms’ Concerto for Violin and Cello.
