Help us shape Willoughby’s local centres

06 November 2017

The City of Willoughby is growing, with the population expected to increase by 18 per cent in the next 20 years to more than 89,000 people. Willoughby Council is calling on the local community to be a part of a continuing conversation about how we manage and plan for this future growth - particularly of local centres - as part of the Willoughby Planning Strategy 2036.

Position statements on Housing and Local Centres were previously published as part of the Strategy, with more than 1,500 responses received from the community.

Council now wants further community feedback to help explore options to revitalise seven key local centres:

  • Artarmon
  • Northbridge
  • Victoria Avenue / Penshurst Street
  • High Street
  • Castlecrag
  • Penshurst Street / Mowbray Road
  • Castlecrag
  • Naremburn

“Sustaining vibrant local centres is important to healthy community life. Local centres provide a sense of place and express local character, as well as helping to serve everyday needs. I encourage everyone to have their say about the future of our local centres,” said Willoughby Mayor Gail Giles-Gidney.

Attend a drop-in session at your local centre

Meet with Willoughby Council staff to discuss planning concepts for your centre, share your ideas about what works well, and what would benefit from a change.

Feedback will help Council draft a Housing Strategy and Local Centres Strategy which will then be exhibited for further feedback in 2018.
