The North Shore’s ever popular Fauna Fair returns in 2017 with a fun day for family and friends on all things animals and nature, including demonstrations, talks, stalls and activities at Chatswood’s Currey Park.

Coinciding with National Neighbours Day, it’s a chance to celebrate, and find out more about our wildlife neighbours, bushland and community environmental programs. Take away some great ideas about wildlife-friendly living and find out about the wild neighbourhood you live in.

Highlights of this year’s Fauna Fair include the spectacular free flight bird show by Feathered Friends and talks by fauna and wildlife experts, including naturalist and author Martyn Robinson talking about the splendour of spiders and the insect world. Ecologist and poet Alex Dudley has tales of frogs and reptiles and will host a discovery tour of local lizards at the event.

There will also be the long-time favourite attractions including wildlife shows and kids' craft activities. Be enthralled once again with shows of Australian mammals, reptiles and frogs, and take in the new Backyard Bug Show by Rangers on the Run.

You can find out more about how to volunteer to look after the bigger backyard, through Council’s Bushcare program. There will also be information on how you can help your companion animals be good neighbors to both local wildlife and people.

Enjoy all of this with food, coffee and cake stalls.

“The Fauna Fair will be a fun day out for everyone! The fair is a great way to learn about all kind of animals from local wildlife to domestic pets. It’s also a chance to find out how we can improve our environment to ensure the long-term survival of some of our remarkable native animals,” said Willoughby Mayor, Gail Giles-Gidney.
