Dads Read: Be their Reading Legend!
05 June 2017
Thursday 6 July. 6pm – 7pm
Chatswood Library on The Concourse
409 Victoria Avenue, Chatswood
Families with young children are invited on a thrilling journey through Ancient Persia at Willoughby City Library’s Dads Read event this July.
Featuring stories from the beloved tale of Scheherazade and the 1001 Nights, children and their parents will enjoy such classics as Aladdin and Ali Baba and the 40 Thieves. There will also be a short music performance by a member of the Willoughby Symphony, as well as songs and craft time.
Dads Read is a national campaign that aims to raise awareness of the importance of fathers and families reading with their children to encourage a love of reading, improve literacy skills and to strengthen bonds between fathers/caregivers and their children.
“Reading with your children not only helps them to develop a love of reading, but also strengthens and builds their self-esteem around this fundamental life skill,” said Willoughby Mayor, Gail Giles-Gidney. “I encourage all families with children who are beginning to read to come along and discover the joys and benefits of reading together,” she said.
Bookings essential and numbers are limited, please visit willoughby.nsw.gov.au
This event is proudly presented by Willoughby City Library and Willoughby Symphony.
