24 January 2017
5pm - 7pm, Sunday 19 February
Henry Lawson Cave, Bicentennial Reserve
Small Street, Willoughby
Enjoy an evening of bush poetry, ballads and music by the campfire in honour of Banjo Paterson’s birthday at the annual Bush Poetry event.
Poems by Banjo Paterson and Henry Lawson will be read by Don Swonnell, Peter Carmody and Diana Bates, with music accompaniment from Greg Dymock and special guests.
“This is a wonderful event for residents to experience our rich local history and culture, set against the back drop of Henry Lawson’s favourite spot in Willoughby,” said Willoughby Mayor, Gail Giles-Gidney. “Bring along a mug for tea and damper and sit back to enjoy a wonderful evening of bush poetry by the campfire,” she said.
The Henry Lawson Cave is located behind the Willoughby Leisure Centre, accessible via Small Street, Willoughby. Head to the rear car park and follow the signs down the bush steps to the cycling and walking track.
Bookings for the Bush Poetry Reading are essential on 9777 7755. Please advise when booking if you would like to read a poem at the event.
In the event of wet weather, a cancellation message will be recorded after 3.30pm on this number.
