London, Spring & The Immortal Beloved

Virtuoso cellist Susan Blake, concert pianist John Martin and internationally acclaimed flautist Jane Rutter join forces in London, Spring & The Immortal Beloved: Beethoven & Hadyn at The Concourse. 

Opening with Hadyn’s cheerful London Trio, be transported straight to the bustling streets of 18th Century London - a time when the flute had become the most fashionable amateur instrument. Followed by Beethoven’s celebrated Opus 69 Cello Sonata and an innovative arrangement of his Spring Sonata, this intimate lunchtime concert is a must for music lovers of this era. 

After winning the ABC Concerto Competition while studying at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, Susan Blake went on to receive a Churchill Fellowship and completed a Solistendiplom under the supervision of Heinrich Schiff. Susan retired as Senior Lecturer at The Con in 2013 and continues to record for ABC Radio, as well as teach and perform both at home and abroad. 

From being a young performer on the books of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, appearing frequently on Radio National, and spending a decade performing overseas, John Martin has become a prominent artist in the music life of Australia and is renowned for his ability to cross genres - effortlessly moving from classical to cabaret, music theatre and light jazz, as well as his speciality, ragtime piano.
