Festive Flag Competition - entries close 10 October
22 September 2016
Local children are being encouraged to enter Willoughby Council’s Festive Flag Competition, for a chance to have their festive drawings displayed on street flags throughout the Chatswood CBD.
The competition is open to all students residing or studying within the City of Willoughby from Kindergarten to Year 6, with entries closing 5pm, Monday 10 October.
Forty winners will each receive a gift voucher and have their flag design flown in Chatswood Mall and down Victoria Avenue, Chatswood from Thursday, 17 November for six weeks.
A formal presentation of certificates will be made to the children at the Light Up event at The Concourse, Thursday 17 November - this event includes the lighting of the Chatswood Christmas Tree.
“I absolutely love the annual Festival Flag competition. It’s such a lovely way to celebrate the festive season here in Willoughby, and the designs always reflect the diversity of culture, and the creativity of Willoughby’s next generation", said Willoughby Mayor, Gail Giles-Gidney.
“Last year we received more than 560 entries into the competition and we hope to top that this year,” Mayor Gail added.
Details of how to submit entries can be found on Willoughby Council’s website - www.willoughby.nsw.gov.au or phone 9777 1000.
