Go from neighbour to neighbourly this April
23 February 2016
Calling all Willoughby residents! Celebrate Neighbour Day 2016 by hosting a neighbourhood event during the month of April and help do your part in growing a stronger, more connected community.
Australia’s annual celebration of community, Neighbour Day encourages us to build better relationships with the people who live around us. There are many ways to participate, whether it's a cuppa with your neighbour, a bush walk, a plant swap or a beach day - it’s completely up to you!
Register your event at www.neighbourday.org/ to receive your free support pack. Packs will include invitations, name tags and a checklist to help get you started in hosting a successful event.
As part of the Neighbour Day initiative, Willoughby City Council are giving away ten Harris Farm gift vouchers, valued at $100, to help you host your event. Visit www.willoughby.nsw.gov.au for your chance to win!
“Neighbours play an important part in our daily lives - not only can they become great friends, neighbours can provide help and support when needed and provide a sense of security,” said Willoughby Mayor, Gail Giles-Gidney.
“So whether you hold a neighbourhood barbeque, a picnic in the park, or even a game of street cricket, hosting an event for Neighbour Day means you are part of making your local community a better, safer place to live for everyone,” she said.
Willoughby City Council’s Neighbour 2 Neighbourly initiative aims to create a safe and friendly community by encouraging streets to become more connected through social events and activities.
