Willoughby City Council invites members of owners corporations, apartment owners and apartment occupiers to attend the ClimateClever Apartments information night from 6.30pm - 8pm, Wednesday 24 February at the Dougherty Community Centre, 7 Victor Street, Chatswood.

ClimateClever Apartments is an innovative new program designed to assist owners corporations to make their apartment buildings more energy and water efficient and prepare for rising utility costs.

The free information night will detail the program and expert speakers will discuss ways to improve the energy and water efficiency of buildings and working with body corporate/strata law. Participants will hear the success stories of a range of apartment buildings and receive a ClimateClever Apartments kit which includes plenty of additional information to help apartment dwellers take action on climate change and save money.

Residents attending the information night will have the opportunity to nominate their building for an assessment as part of the program. Alternatively, buildings can be nominated online via council’s website. The nomination process is open now and closes at 4pm, Friday 12 March. A limited number of nominated apartments will then be chosen to receive a free building assessment from a specialist assessor, identifying opportunities to save energy, water and money.

“These specialist assessments are worth several hundred to several thousand dollars depending on the size of the apartment building. The chance to receive a free assessment represents an exceptional opportunity for owners corporations to identify ways to reduce the ongoing operating costs of apartment buildings. I urge all owners corporations to consider nominating their building,” said the Mayor.

“This program is another way Willoughby City Council is tackling climate change and helping our community reach a carbon reduction target of 15 per cent by 2015. We are committed to offering practical solutions for the range of dwellings that we call home here in Willoughby,” he said.

For more information about the program, to register your interest in attending the information night or to nominate your apartment building for an assessment, phone Willoughby City Council on 9777 1000 or see our webpage on ClimateClever Apartments.
