Castle Cove Library celebrates its first event in merriment of Chinese New Year

03 February 2010

The newly opened Castle Cove Library will celebrate its first event, in merriment of Chinese New Year, hosting Story Times for Preschoolers, 10.30am to 11.15am, Friday 19 February, Watermark Development, 8b Deepwater Road, Castle Cove.

Children will be treated to fascinating Chinese stories themed about the Year of the Tiger. Children will also be given the opportunity to engage in traditional Chinese lion dancing, taking part in a live lion dance inside the library, entertainingly bringing the tiger stories to life.

“The redevelopment of Watermark brought about the opportunity to build a new library and community facility for members of the local community,” said Willoughby Mayor, Pat Reilly.

“It’s great to see Castle Cove coming to life hosting its first event which happens to be in celebration of the city’s enlivening Chinese New Year festivities,” he said.

The facility also includes a flexible community space available for hire outside library opening hours. The space can be hired for a multitude of activities including, community and club meetings, passive recreational activities such as yoga, and functions. Individuals or organisations wanting to hire a space will need to contact the Willoughby Park Centre on 9967 2917.

Castle Cove Library opening hours are: 2.30pm to 5.00 pm, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, 12.30pm to 6 pm, Thursday, 10am to 1pm, Friday, 9.30am to 12noon, Saturday and closed Sunday.
