Willoughby City Council is urging residents to consider installing a solar photovoltaic (PV) system from the ClimateClever Shop to reduce their carbon footprint and save money by accessing discounts, credits and the new ‘gross feed-in tariff’.

The online ClimateClever Shop offers a range of quality and discounted solar PV systems in one easy online location. Residents can choose from a range of system types and sizes to suit different homes, with discounts ranging from $850 to $5 110 off the recommended retail price.

On 1 January this year, the NSW Government introduced a ‘gross feed-in tariff’ as part of the NSW Solar Bonus Scheme. The tariff will pay owners of small-scale solar PV systems 60 cents per kilowatt hour for all the electricity the system produces. A typical family would expect to receive around $1 500 per year.

Financial assistance to purchase solar PV systems is also available from the Australian Government with Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) and Solar Credits.

Residents can also save money on household electricity bills for years to come by generating their own electricity from the sun’s free energy.

“Summer reminds us of the freely available energy of the sun. Harnessing this energy is a great way to reduce our impact on climate change and become clever about our use of resources,” said Willoughby Mayor, Pat Reilly.

“If Willoughby residents are considering installing solar PV, I encourage them to start their investigations at the online ClimateClever Shop. North Shore residents can access substantial discounts on a range of system types and sizes. The online shop also explains savings available from government agencies,” he said.

Reputable companies Australia Wide Solar, Green Solar Group and Solar Shop Australia are the preferred suppliers of solar PV systems for the online ClimateClever Shop. The preferred suppliers are able to offer specific advice about solar PV systems suitable for your home.

The ClimateClever Shop discounts are available to residents in the Willoughby, Ku-ring-gai, Lane Cove, North Sydney and Hunter’s Hill Council areas. Residents can also access discounts and information about solar and heat pump hot water systems and rainwater tanks from the online shop.

Willoughby residents can also attend a free ClimateClever workshop in April designed to make the process of going solar as easy as possible.
